TRUE ANALOG PRINTS
Ever since we started, we were fascinated with the idea of being able to create a print that is truly analog, no digital process involved, directly from the negative to the paper.
A new way to experience your images, to explore and re-explore the color of your images through the depth and richness that only traditional photographic processes provide. Our service is designed for both professionals and enthusiasts who value the tangible qualities of film with unparalleled color fidelity and detail.
Consistent RA4 Colors
Like any chemical process, being able to monitor and control your chemistry is key. By meticulously controlling every aspect of the developing process, with weekly control strips, we can fine-tune everything from the temperature to replenishment to ensure that every print will render with its fullest colour range, depth, and tonalities.
Colenta
The precision of the Colenta machine guarantees that the chemistry is always on spot, allowing us to achieve consistent results print after print, specially on a long project. Combined with our every growing experience, we’re committed to getting the best out of every print.
How it works
1.The Frame
The original film is needed to create the print in the darkroom; indicate which frame(s) you’d like to print either with a sticker on the sleeved film or a reference image.
If there are several similar frames, make sure it’s clear which one you like.
2.The Enlarger
With the frame(s) selected, we will go into the darkroom to setup the enlarger and start creating the color of your print.
This is where the magic happens! Also you’d like to know that the printing process for Color has to be completely in the dark, while for B&W prints we can use the red light.
3.The Print
Each print requires several test prints to find the correct density values and color balance.
Also depending on the look we might need to use pre-flash techniques to achieve the look you are aiming for. It’s a lengthy process but it’s key to get the best possible result.
4.Adjusting
Specially for those jobs with multiple prints, once we have the first print done, we will send you a scan so you can confirm everything looks as it’s supposed to.
Our goal is to achieve the maximum consistency on your prints so they can be seen as the same body of work.
Formats
35mm
Anything that shoots 35mm, we can make a print in the darkroom from it! Because we work with pre-cut sheets, the length of the paper determines the max size, and the white border from the edges will be bigger. But we can cut it for you, of course!
120
In medium format, we can print 645, 6×6 and 6×7. Except for 6×6, the other formats fit the paper quite well with minimum cropping.
PRICES
Printing in the darkroom is a highly manual skill, that’s why every print can take anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes to reach the final result!
All pricing is per print and if you have any question just let us know!
