Ever wonder how film is actually manufactured? It’s no secret that analog photography is getting more and more popular, so we can’t help but ask: what does this all mean for the film supply? Fortunately, Smarter Every Day has given us an inside look at the Kodak plant in Rochester, New York, where we can see firsthand the inner workings of their film production!

THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT
We have been following Smarter Every Day for a long time, and if you are a geek like us, we are sure you will love it as well. This Youtube channel showcases the science and technology behind everyday things. In this series, they give us a thorough look at the various stages of film production–from the initial raw materials to the finished product–, the emulsion-coating process, quality control, and packaging.
Given how nerdy we are about this content, you can only imagine how ecstatic we were when their notification for the Kodak factory tour popped up on our devices! The fact that film photography is still being made today is a testament to the dedication and passion of those who work in the industry. And it’s why, as photographers, we like to cherish every shot we take on film, knowing that it’s the result of a process that is both complex and beautiful. Every roll counts!

Avui ens fa molta il·lusió presentar un client del qual la majoria de nosaltres al laboratori som realment fans, el senyor Yuri Yatel.
Com sol passar, no coneixíem la seva feina abans que comencés a utilitzar els nostres serveis, però amb la seva primera comanda (fa dos estius) ens va meravellar el seu treball.
La seva fotografia ens «parla» a molts nivells, però des d’un punt de vista purament estètic és increïble com sembla triar la millor llum possible per disparar absolutament sempre. De vegades fem broma dient que es podria pensar que només dispara quan la situació lumínica és ideal, però en realitat el Yuri fotografia bodes per tot Europa amb tota mena de condicions de llum i ho clava cada vegada.
Teníem moltíssim material que havíem escanejat per a ell, però hem pensat que seria interessant mostrar el seu treball recent fet durant els seus tallers. Per a nosaltres és especialment atractiu que hagi disparat en la mateixa ubicació en dates diferents amb condicions climàtiques i lumíniques totalment oposades, però utilitzant la mateixa configuració de càmera i pel·lícula, i que ambdues es vegin increïbles a la seva manera.
Esperem que ho gaudeixis tant com nosaltres!
Totes les imatges s’han disparat amb una Contax 645 utilitzant pel·lícula Kodak Portra 400.

Avui estem encantats de presentar un projecte increïble del qual ens sentim honorats de formar part.
Isabelle Hesselberg i Siegrid Cain són dues de les fotògrafes de casaments líders a Europa. Totes dues disparen amb pel·lícula i cadascuna té estils fotogràfics molt definits a la seva manera. Han estat clientes nostres durant un temps, les hem conegut diverses vegades en diferents esdeveniments fotogràfics (Noruega, Madrid i València) i les estimem moltíssim a totes dues.
L’any passat van tenir una idea meravellosa: reunir un grup de dones fotògrafes en una casa preciosa, aprenent les unes de les altres i compartint les seves experiències en el que va resultar ser molt més que un taller de fotografia analògica habitual.
Així ho van fer, i el Bohemia Gathering Vol I a Vichy (França) el passat abril va ser un èxit rotund.
Avancem 8 mesos (i tones de correus electrònics) i BOOM!: el Bohemia Gathering Vol II tindrà lloc al novembre a LA NOSTRA CIUTAT, València! Sí, això és realment una realitat. Isabelle i Siegrid van suggerir la idea ja que València és preciosa, el seu clima és increïble, està just al costat del mar i, és clar, és on estem ubicats, així que vam pensar que per a la majoria d’assistents seria fantàstic fer una visita guiada al nostre laboratori i mostrar-los què passa amb la seva pel·lícula aquí.
Per a aquest Bohemia, la casa que van triar és literalment al costat de la nostra ciutat, però al mig dels «camps de xufa» I a poca distància a peu de la platja de la Patacona.

Avui ens fa molta il·lusió presentar un client del qual la majoria de nosaltres al laboratori som realment fans, el senyor Yuri Yatel.

Bohemia Gathering II: València
